does 24 hour allergy medicine work better than 12 hour

I have pretty betyer allergy problems and I have to take Claritin D fairly frequently otherwise I'm miserable. I normally take the 24 hour dosage but on a recent doctor's visit she told me I should take the 12 hour, said that the 24 hour doesn't really go the 24 hours and delivers too much medicine right off the bat and not enough for the other half of the day. Okay, that sounds like it might be legit. So now I'm wondering if I can still buy the 24 hour dosage and cut the pill in half instead of buying the 12 hour since it is way cheaper to do it that way? Is there any reason I shouldn't do it that way?

Just one humble man's opinion. Are you friggin kidding me??? I have been having major sleep issues for quite some time now and yes, basket case is a good description. I am not fond of taking any type of meds at all ever and wasn't too keen on the idea of taking anything to msdicine me sleep.

May 30,  · Messages: 9, We have hit allergy season and my DS and I are suffering. Allegra works great for both of us, but it only lasts for 12 hours. DS takes his every morning around 7am. He doesn't sneeze or blow his nose all day. Come 8. But, if not, buy generic pseudoephedrine separate from the allergy meds. It turns out that you are saving a lot of cash, and the regular (not extended-release 12/24 hr formulations) ones are super cheap and won't make you miss sleep, as long as you don't take it in the evening, because they last around 4 hours.

I kept putting it off 224 of that but have been recently thinking about just going ahead and doing it so I can hopefully figure out some type of solution for my sleep issues.

Yes, she knew I have been taking Claritin D and that is the only meds I am on. Why she never told me my sleep problems might be due to taking it? Now that I've done a little Google search on it Bettee can't believe she didn't figure that out and let me know that was probably the root of my problem. I only know that when I don't take the Claritin D I can't sleep either because my nose is so stuffed up and sinus pressure becomes unbearable.

No suggestion has ever been made to try a switch to another med either such as Zyrtec or Allegra. Basically because Claritin D does work extremely well to alleviate my allergy symptoms and I told her this She also put me on Flonase - or actually fluticasone propionate my insurance doesn't cover Flonase, just the generic over wirk years but I never seemed to see any kind of improvement when using it, it never seemed to reduce my need for taking the Claritin D.

I stopped trying it because I just never experienced any noticeable betrer when using it.

Seems like I need to go shopping for a new doc. I rarely go to the doctor anyway other than sinus infections several times a year, which is why I went recently.

Only on this last visit did she recommend switching from 24hr dose to 12hr dose as well as putting me on antibiotics for my infection. I'm thinking I need someone more knowledgeable.
